The item works as described. It appears to be solid and well made and locates the selected metals quickly and easily. The only negative I would have would be the need to provide more in-depth information in the manual, including discussions about how to position the antenna, the function of the probe, and how to tune the threshold and sensitivity adjustments to one’s best advantage. These topics are handled only very superficially in the manual and could use some solid examples by way of explanation. As regards the delivery time: It arrived well ahead of schedule, which was a nice surprise. I charged it up and started experimenting with it immediately.Overall, I found that it’s a sturdy piece of equipment that does the job it’s intended to do. I was particularly interested in its ability to discriminate between materials, so I tested it with a silver coin, a gold ring, and a diamond ring, all three items mixed in a box with a number of other metals (iron, copper, aluminum) just to see if the other materials would confuse, dilute, or mask the signal from the silver, gold, or diamond. Detectorists know that iron can block a search coil detector from picking up a gold signal, but with this device the additional materials had no effect at all on the search-and-identify function. Whenever I selected a target material, the GR100 found it as quickly and easily as if those items were isolated from everything else, whether it be silver, gold, or diamond.I do have a couple of continuous-improvement suggestions for the manufacturer, however: 1) Add a plug for an ear bud. The beeping the machine makes when it finds its target is very subtle and sometimes can’t be easily heard. 2) Explain the use of the scale that’s right below the row of LED lights that show the level of sensitivity. Is it a depth meter? If so, how would it function given that the LED sensitivity meter appears to be unrelated to it?Summation: It’s solid, works exactly as described, goes deeper than a search coil can achieve, is not confused by other metals nearby, and allows quick scanning of large areas that would take a long time with a search coil. As a long-time detectorist I was stunned at the number of items I missed with my search-coil device.
