I have a 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse gt, and when the radio head unit finally died I replaced it with an aftermarket head unit utilizing my existing amplifier and speakers. The stock head unit must have contained an ignition noise filter in it’s circuitry, because after my installation I had ignition noise that could be heard with the volume turned all of the way down. I installed this filter exactly as directed, and was dismayed to find that it did not eliminate the noise as installed. Fortunately, I had read the reviews and remembered that some had suggested that I connect it inline to the yellow constant power, and it did the trick! I discovered that it didn’t make any difference whether or not the black wire was connected to ground, so I left it disconnected to avoid the possiblity of creating a parasitic ground that might drain my battery. So we can add me to the list of people who had success by installing on the constant circuit instead of the switched circuit. It might be helpful to future customers to include these ideas in future packaging for those who buy without reading reviews.
