Primo Smoked BBQ Meatballs

A true crowd pleaser, making Smoked BBQ Meatballs on a Primo Ceramic Grill couldn’t be easier.  BBQ Rub, BBQ Sauce, and a kiss of smoke will elevate your favorite meatball recipe out of your oven to be a new backyard BBQ favorite.

Start with your favorite meatball recipe – just hold back whatever salt is recommended. Add a tablespoon of your favorite BBQ rub and two tablespoons of your favorite BBQ sauce per pound of meat. We used 4lbs here.

Coat a sheet pan with olive oil, form your meatballs, and give them a dusting of rub.

Prepare the Primo for smoking and target a grill temp of 225 to 250. We would recommend a mix of apple and hickory.

Smoke the meatballs until they reach 140 internal temp and then apply your favorite bbq sauce. Continue cooking until they hit 165 degrees internal. A Thermapen is a perfect tool here.

We are getting close here! The Thermapen MK4 is reading 161.

We would recommend letting them rest in a pan for a few minutes with another light coating of sauce and a quick dusting of rub. Enjoy!

Also, we would coat the bottom of your serving/resting pan with a touch of sauce and a touch of rub since the bottom of the meatball doesn’t get the treatment during the cook!

We smoked some meatballs again, this time using SuckleBusters Hoochie Mama Rub

Here they are before they get sauced.

This time we used SuckleBusters Original BBQ Sauce. This picture in the sunlight shows how nicely the sauce glazes the meat.
